The Challenge

Understanding basic financial concepts and the importance of budgeting and saving is critical in today's economy. Yet research suggests financial literacy is low among young people and efforts to teach financial education could be refined. How can financial services companies, such as Fidelity Investments best tap into their volunteers and financial expertise to improve the financial literacy of high school students in low-income areas?

The Answer

To solve this challenge, we would like to hear your best ideas by November 7, 2013. Let us know how Fidelity Investments volunteers and the company’s financial expertise can engage high school students in low-income areas to improve their financial literacy. We welcome new ways to incorporate technology to make financial education more fun and engaging. If you’re not affiliated with a non-profit organization or educational institution, you can suggest an organization that could implement your idea. The Reward

If your idea is selected, you'll receive a $1,000 charitable gift card to make a donation to a public school of your choice through DonorsChoose.org – as well as know you’ve helped young people become better able to make smart financial decisions in their lives. Fidelity Investments will fund the winning idea up to $100,000 by collaborating with a non-profit organization or educational institution to pilot test the idea.
